COVID-19

The Foundation and its board would like to convey their deepest sympathies for those who have been impacted by the recent Corona Virus outbreak. Here’s a message of support from Mike on the current situation: (See the video below⇓)

Corona Virus. Let’s beat this!

The Coronavirus disease is having a devastating impact on the world. It’s up to us to stay positive, be kind to one another, and follow the health guidelines set out by our leaders. If we are determined enough, we can beat this thing. Sending my thoughts and best wishes out to everyone. – Mike

What has been the impact to the Ottawa Primary School, cricket coaches and children?

As is the case in the UK, schools in South Africa are now shut as part of the country’s lockdown to combat Covid-19. This includes Ottawa Primary School where Mike’s coaches bring cricket and other sports to the children. As with the UK, it is not known when the schools will reopen but the coaches still need to be paid and the children still need to be fed. As can be seen in the video below their school meal is for some children the only square meal they get each day. We are currently looking at what can be done to alleviate this within the restrictions placed on the communities during the lockdown.

Breaking News: We are currently looking at what can be done to alleviate this within the restrictions placed on the communities during the lockdown. We are discussing this with food processing companies and with the local Police. We will provide an update on this shortly.

We all have to beat Covid-19 no matter where we are in the world and we can do this by working together and looking out for each other.   Mike sent out his own message in South Africa last week and it applies equally everywhere.

For those currently struggling with the effects and challenged from the virus our partner, On The Page Ltd have created a central COVID-19 Support Hub to offer a central point of reference for advice, tips and support throughout the epidemic.
