In January 2023 Mike realised a long-held ambition of expanding the Foundation’s operations to a second school.

Sibonginkosi Mngadi, Headmaster

In January 2023 coaching began at the Solomon Mahlangu Primary School in nearby Cornubia.   A further two coaches were recruited to support the 750 pupils.  Each child receives at least an hour a week of PE and or tennis/cricket coaching.

Supervised by Rodney, coaches Londi and Thuli provide PE sessions for the 750 children at Solomon Mahlangu Primary School in the Cornubia district of Durban throughout the week.  Principal Sibonginkosi Mngadi, is very happy with progress.

The coaching team and Trustees,

The Foundation’s main cost is in paying and training its coaches.  These payments are essential for the subsistence of these individuals and their extended families.  They are, in all cases, the major breadwinner of the household.  Almost a third of the population of South Africa is unemployed.  The rate rises to over 59% for 15 to 24-year-olds.

We are proud to be employing three female coaches in the Durban operations.  They are all there on merit but we are very conscious of the importance of promoting opportunities for women in the African continent.  Through this the community benefits from the breaking down of prejudice and unhelpful stereotypes.
